Hastings Awards Process Design Work to Core Resources

Hastings Announces Rare Earth Process Design Work Awarded to Core

Hastings Rare Metals Limited, an ASX-listed explorer, is advancing the Yangibana Rare Earths Project in Western Australia. Following a successful drilling campaign, Hastings has commenced a Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) to assess the project’s economic viability and define optimal processing pathways.

As part of this study, Core Resources has been awarded a key role, providing specialist process engineering, hydrometallurgical testwork, and flowsheet design to support the program. The Yangibana resource is recognised as one of Australia’s largest and most accessible rare earths deposits, with targeted production of neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and europium.

Core Resources’ Role in the Feasibility Study

Core Resources will be conducting hydrometallurgical testwork and separation testwork as part of the process design. This work will provide critical data for developing an efficient processing route for the extraction and purification of rare earth elements from the Yangibana deposit. The testwork findings will support the broader plant design and process optimisation efforts being led by other key consultants on the project.

Other Key Feasibility Study Components

Hastings has assembled a team of leading consultants to support the PFS, including:

  • Tetra Tech Proteus (TTP) – Lead consultant overseeing plant design, infrastructure, and capital and operating cost estimations.
  • Snowden Mining Consultants – Responsible for resource modelling, mine planning, and scheduling.
  • ATC Williams – Managing waste rock, tailings, groundwater supply, and water management strategies.

The PFS will also include:

  • Expansion of the existing JORC resource base through further drilling.
  • Confirmation of beneficiation results and assessment of hydrometallurgical processing options.
  • Selection of suitable sites for processing operations and infrastructure.
  • Capital and operating cost analysis for different mining and processing scenarios.
  • Market analysis for potential rare earth sales contracts.
  • Environmental baseline studies, cultural heritage, and native title assessments.
  • Groundwater supply identification and hydrogeological evaluations.

Advancing the Yangibana Rare Earths Project

With rare earths playing a critical role in high-tech applications, renewable energy, and electric vehicle production, the Yangibana Project is well-positioned to become a key supplier of these strategic materials. Core Resources’ expertise in metallurgical testwork, process engineering, and rare earth processing will contribute to developing a technically and economically robust processing solution for the project.
