Delivering detailed, particle-level mineralogy for metallurgical testwork programs.

Core Resources offers laboratory-based mineralogy testing using the MinDet Emago, a high-resolution analysis system that provides fast, detailed data to support metallurgical investigations, process development and geometallurgical studies.

Using advanced microscopy and AI-driven classification, the Emago generates quantitative information on mineral composition, liberation, elemental grade and particle size distribution (PSD) from samples as small as 10 grams. This capability delivers the mineralogical insight needed to optimise processing performance and reduce risk across project development.

How it works

The Emago combines optical microscopy with a tri-axial robotic scanning system. Thousands of particles are imaged and analysed in minutes, with each particle identified by texture, shape and colour using an AI algorithm trained on SEM/EDS-derived mineral databases.

This approach allows mineralogical data to be resolved at a particle level, producing liberation measurements, calculated elemental grades based on known mineral chemistry and full PSD analysis across all size fractions.

More than just target minerals

Alongside metal-bearing species, the system also identifies other phases such as clays, micas and iron-rich gangue that may suppress recovery or impact downstream performance. Having this level of detail provides a clearer understanding of mineral behaviour and supports more reliable process design.

Applications

The Emago is suited to a wide range of metallurgical and geometallurgical programs, including:
