Mineral Impurities and Arsenic Removal
Core are the world leaders in the development of processes and technologies for the removal of impurities and toxic elements from mineral concentrates and products. This includes deep knowledge and experience with removing and treating arsenic, fluorine, bismuth and mercury.
Core has worked on the following projects:
- Testwork and process engineering for the Toowong Process™ for the removal of arsenic and antimony from multiple copper concentrates.
- Testwork and process design for removing fluorine from a copper/gold concentrate (Australia).
- Testwork for removing antimony and bismuth from electrowinning tankhouse liquors using SX, IX and precipitation (Australia).
Core has various technologies for removing impurities:
- Albion Process™ technology for arsenopyrite removal from base metal concentrates.
- Novel ion exchange technology for the removal of impurities for example, antimony and bismuth from copper electrolyte, or earth alkali (Ca, Mg) removal from lithium solutions.
Core’s metallurgical testwork capabilities for impurity removal include:
- Comminution breakage testing
- Beneficiation including cyclone separation
- Flotation
- Dewatering including thickening and filtration
- Toowong Process™
- Pressure Oxidation and Leaching
- Ultrafine Grinding and Albion Process™ Testing
- Roasting
- Crystallisation and precipitation
- Electrowinning of antimony
