The Toowong Process Arsenic Removal Technology Recognised in Awards

The Toowong Process, developed by Core Resources, has garnered significant recognition for its innovative approach to removing arsenic and other deleterious elements from mineral concentrates. This technology addresses a critical environmental challenge in the mining industry by enabling on-site removal of arsenic, resulting in cleaner, non-toxic products ready for shipment.

Accelerating Commercialisation Grant

In 2016, Core Resources was awarded an Accelerating Commercialisation Grant by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, amounting to $986,644 in matching funding over two years. This grant aimed to expedite the commercialisation of the Toowong Process, reflecting the government’s support for innovative environmental technologies in the resources sector.

Industry Recognition and Awards

The Toowong Process has also been acknowledged through various industry awards:

  • Australian Innovation Challenge: In 2015, the process was selected as a finalist in the Minerals and Energy category of this prestigious competition, highlighting its potential to revolutionise the treatment of arsenic-bearing concentrates.
  • ATC Mining Technology Award: In 2016, Core Resources won this award for the development of the Toowong Process, underscoring its significance in advancing mining technology.
  • METS Ignited Collaboration Award: In 2018, Core Resources, in collaboration with Mineral Technologies, received this award, recognising their joint efforts in advancing the Toowong Process and addressing environmental challenges associated with high-arsenic concentrates.

These recognitions underscore the Toowong Process’s impact on the mining industry, offering a viable solution to the complexities of arsenic management in mineral processing.
