Rox Resources has released an update on metallurgical testing at their Youanmi Gold Project in Western Australia, confirming high flotation recoveries and outlining the continued development of their process flowsheet. While no new Albion Process® results were reported, Core Resources is proud to be progressing Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS)-level testwork on this important project.

High Gold Recovery from Flotation
Recent testing at Youanmi has achieved 91.6% gold recovery to concentrate, with strong flotation performance from both high-iron and high-magnesium basalt lithologies. Combined with additional gold recovered through leaching of flotation tailings, these results highlight the potential for significant recovery optimisation.
The Role of the Albion Process®
The Albion Process®, developed by Glencore Technology, is a patented oxidative leaching technology designed to treat refractory gold ores – like those found at Youanmi.
The process consists of two main stages:
- Ultrafine Grinding: Concentrates are milled using an IsaMill™ to P80 8–20 µm to liberate gold particles tightly bound in sulphide minerals, especially arsenopyrite.
- Atmospheric Oxidative Leaching: The finely ground concentrate is oxidised in an OxiLeach™ reactor under controlled conditions – atmospheric pressure, 95°C, and pH ~5 – before entering a standard cyanide leach circuit.
This two-stage process improves gold recovery, particularly from gold locked in sulphide matrices, and is more energy- and cost-efficient than traditional pressure oxidation or roasting options.
What’s Next?
At Core Resources, our team is completing DFS-level Albion Process® testwork for Rox, including:
- Grind size sensitivity
- Sulphur oxidation optimisation
- Leach testwork to support downstream design
- Variability and bulk testing
These results will be incorporated into Rox’s full Definitive Feasibility Study, due for release in November 2025.
